Why does the app only accept ISBN numbers with 10 or 13 characters?

The ISBN standard mandates that ISBN values be 10 or 13 characters (for the ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 formats, respectively). Some publishers, however, decided to drop any leading zeroes in their ISBN number printing and, thus, some books may have shorter ISBN numbers printed on the books themselves. The actual ISBN number, as recorded in most databases, will be the same printed number with the leading zeroes added back in. If you find you have an ISBN with fewer than 10 digits, just add zeroes to the front until you do have 10 digits, and everything should function appropriately.
